Sommelier

Sommelier is a co-processor for Ethereum that automates Liquidity Providers' (LPs) portfolios to maximize their yields. LPs will be able to use Sommelier to author and execute complex, automated financial transactions, such as portfolio rebalancing, limit orders, batched orders, and other features that traders have come to expect from CeFi. Sommelier is composed of the Cosmos Stargate SDK, its Tendermint-based consensus layer, and a decentralized, bi-directional Ethereum bridge managed by a global network of validators.

What is Sommelier?

Sommelier is a decentralized asset management protocol built on the Cosmos SDK, designed to enable actively managed DeFi vaults on Ethereum. It allows users to participate in automated investment strategies, known as Cellars, which dynamically adapt to market conditions to optimize yields and mitigate risks.

How Does Sommelier Work?

Sommelier operates as a co-processor to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), utilizing a decentralized network of validators to execute complex financial transactions. These include portfolio rebalancing, limit orders, and batched orders. The protocol employs a bi-directional Ethereum bridge to manage liquidity across various DeFi platforms, enabling efficient and automated asset management.

What Makes Sommelier Unique?

Sommelier distinguishes itself through its use of off-chain computation and machine learning algorithms to dynamically adjust investment strategies based on changing market conditions. This approach allows for more responsive and adaptive portfolio management compared to static vaults. Additionally, Sommelier's architecture ensures that users retain control over their assets, with the ability to withdraw funds at any time.

Who Are the Founders of Sommelier?

Sommelier was co-founded in 2020 by Zaki Manian, a lead developer on the Cosmos protocol and Tendermint, along with a team of Ethereum and Cosmos developers. The team includes Kristi Põldsam, Jack Zampolin, and others, bringing together expertise in blockchain development and decentralized finance.
